Don't Cry Debuts at #1 on Cyworld, Hits the Roof, and Becomes a DOUBLE ALL-KILL

It took Bom less than an hour to rise to #1 on MNET and SORIBADA when the song was released at 12KST on April 21st. Shortly thereafter she was #1 on all the charts EXCEPT Cyworld.

What happened to Cyworld? Apparently Don't Cry was not released on Cyworld at 12AM, instead, it was not officially released until Noon and even then there were issues with downloading the track. In the interim, Bom managed to Top the Nate, Cyworld's parent company, trending topics (similar to twitter trending with not just kpop but all Nate searches included in the ranking), and at one point had not one, but 2 of the Top 5 searched topics on Nate.

It even looks like fans became impatient just waiting for Cyworld to make Park Bom's Don't Cry readily available, during the wait, 2ne1's Go Away rose hundreds of positions to 45th place on the Cyworld real time charts.

Then, FINALLY, Don't Cry made its official debut on Cyworld BGM marketplace in the late evening on April 21st flying quickly to the #1 ranking on the real -time charts. This is simply an astounding feat.

Don't Cry is STILL #1 on all the online music charts in S. Korea. In fact, it has "hit the roof" for three (possibly four) times in two days. So what exactly is this elusive hitting the roof that k-media and even Dara's recent me2day is talking about? Check out the chart below.

Melon is one of the most important online music charts in South Korea, it has the largest share of any digital music market. As part of its services, Melon provides graphs that track the sales of the Top singles by the hour. The graph above shows the progression of the song throughout the day yesterday. CLICK HERE for an hour by hour view of Don't Cry on Melon prepared by DC2ne1 fans.

You will notice the song was not released exactly at midnight on Melon, but within an hour of its release was already at #1, at about 8:30AM Don't Cry "HIT THE ROOF" meaning reached the maximum possible height on Melon's sales tracking graph. Then, amazingly enough at 9:30AM she did it again. Finally, though you can't tell from this chart somewhere at about 11:30PM -12:00AM KST, Bom hit the roof for the third time. Some are debating whether the 8:30 & 9:30AM points should count as one or two and whether the 11:30PM should count towards April 21st or 22nd, but in any event one thing is clear, the single is having mind-boggling success.

This is a HUGE deal in kpop. It is rare to hit the roof ONCE in a promotion cycle, but multiple times in the same day is unheard of. Many songs do well on Melon, are ranked #1, and never even get close to hitting the roof. For Don't Cry, as Dara says "the roof is leaking" indeed.

Also, as you can see from Today's real-time graph, Bom is not just at the top for a brief time, but staying up at the very very top of the graph for hours. Fans are saying, Bom is "in the heavens."

There is even more good news. Don't Cry is also currently #1 on all the DAILY charts in S. Korea.

It's a DOUBLE ALL-KILL
#1 on all Real Time Charts and #1 on all Daily Charts

As we write this, Don't Cry is #1 EVERYWHERE in South Korea.
