Rolling Stone 20 Best Pop Albums of 2014: 2NE1 'Crush' at #6 spot!

Almost two years after K-pop first giddily barged into America's imagination, the genre hasn't sustained a post-"Gangnam Style" wave, but the Seoul machine keeps humming. Female foursome 2NE1, buoyed by a cameo on The Bachelor, moved more units of their album in its first week of release than any previous Korean act. That was about it for sales records, but the album itself was no stiff; in fact, it's a canny downshift from the wigged-out "I Am the Best" maximalist mash-ups of the past. "Happy" is a sunny, strummy jaunt with no manic gimmicks and the ballad "Good to You" soars and sweet-talks likably. But Crush's centerpiece is "MTBD," which spotlights group member CL on a bratty squirt of EDM-hip-pop with a bubblegum trap groove. C.A.

A.KOR's agency speaks up about controversy surrounding Kemy's diss track

As the controversy surrounding the diss track from A.KOR's rapper Kemy towards Park Bom continues to grow, allkpop received an exclusive statement from A.KOR's agency, DOO Republic.  The agency showed concern as they continue to attract negative attention from YG fans and even had to deal with a false apology on Twitter through an impersonator as well as diss tracks from Park Bom's fans.

The agency said, "It was only a diss track meant for submission into a rap competition, nothing more and nothing less, which is why we have remained quiet on the topic. However, as an 18-year-old girl is in great shock over all this, we will finish this week's set schedule and then wrap up promotions."

An alleged apology to Park Bom revealed to be from an impostor account posing as A.KOR's Kemy

Word has been going around that A.KOR's Kemy recently apologized for her bold diss track targeting Park Bom through her supposed SNS accounts. However, this has been found to be the work of an impostor as A.KOR's agency has denied Kemy apologized.

This SNS account in question (@topofkoreakemi) had posted, "I didn't know that my diss towards Park Bom sunbaenim would become this big... I'm really sorry to 2NE1's fans and Park Bom sunbaenim.... I'm so sorry, everyone. Please love A.KOR a lot!!"

In response to this, top netizen comments on articles had read, "The one apologizing should be Park Bom, not you", "But everything you said was right", and such along those lines. However, others voiced that Kemy should indeed apologize and wondered if this was a noise marketing tactic for her and her group: "You are still a hoobae of Park Bom, and to see a rookie post an apology only to say 'Please love A.KOR', this sounds more like noise marketing than a diss".

As the situation grew bigger, A.KOR's agency was contacted about this alleged apology who denied that this was true. They told news outlet SBS CNBC"Kemy is currently not active on SNS. The person who posted an apology towards Park Bom via Twitter and Instagram is an impostor posing as Kemy."

Park Bom's style coordinator responds to Kemy's diss track

After rapper Kemy of rookie girl group A.KOR dropped a diss track targeting Park Bom, the 2NE1 member's styling coordinator went to her defense.

The coordinator uploaded Kemy's picture onto a personal Instagram account, tagged Kemy's ID, and left a message, "These days, whether it's a dog or a cow, they say they're doing hip hop and diss others through rap.  What bull****.  How dare you speak informally and do this and that to a big senior when the ink hasn't even dried yet on your social security number card? I see that you're ridiculously gutsy, so you do whatever you want.  As soon as you debut, you must've planned to retire from the group. They say you can diss somebody if you've reached the level to meet them face-to-face and eat together."

This caused netizens to criticize the coordinator, saying, "A third party should not get involved," "A new icon for thoughtlessness," and more, so that the coordinator deleted the relevant Instagram post to no avail as a screenshot of the post has already been circulating via Twitter and on-line communities.

YG Entertainment(YG)’s power girl group 2NE1 held a concert celebrating the 5th anniversary of their debut in the Philippines, which was a great success.

On the evening of May 17, the day that 2NE1 debuted five years ago, the Mall of Asia Arena in Manila, the Philippines, was packed with local fans who came to see 2NE1’s world tour, “ALL OR NOTHING.”

Wearing stylish and colorful outfits on stage, 2NE1 started the concert with their 2nd regular album’s title track, “CRUSH,” and captivated fans.

2NE1 impressed fans by singing songs in various genres from hit songs that boast powerful performances such as “FIRE,” “CLAP YOUR HANDS,” and “PRETTY BOY,” to sentimental songs with soft vocals such as “MISSING YOU,” “IF I WERE YOU,” and the unplugged version of “COME BACK HOME.”
