Dara made a "special request" to her brother Thunder!

During the interview on "Entertainment Weekly" Dara made a revelation about Cheon Dung.

 

We previously talked about Dara thougths about G-Dragon but this time she has a special request to her little brother.

Dara made a chocking confession and revealed that Cheon Dung doesn't reply to her text messages.  

She continued and made a special rquest with the following message:

  'Dog poop (gae ddoong, Cheon Dung's nickname) ah, please reply big noona's messages. I've told you this before, this is the second time. I pray that you'll be healthy and your new album will do well.'

She is such a sweet big sister that is always concerning about his baby brother. Let's hope that Cheon Dung will start to reply her messages.

CL’s Current “Project”?

With the hardworking girls of 2NE1 on a much needed vacation to Paris, there’s been growing speculation that CL is working on a solo album. 2NE1 member Sandara Park recently took to her me2day to clarify just what the “baddest female Seoul city ever seen” is doing.

On January 31st, she updated her me2day page with the above picture and a quick message:

It looks like Minzy is getting ready for 2NE1’s impending Hallyu debut!

On January 30th, Minzy posted “Good morning!” on her Twitter in Korean, English, Japanese, Indonesian, Vietnamese, Filipino, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, German, French, Italian, and Turkish. That’s a total of 12 different languages!

Later, she gave an extra treat to some lucky fans by personally @replying to them in languages she hadn’t posted in the original tweet.

Sandara Park talks about her fondness for G-Dragon

2NE1’s Sandara Park revealed an incident with G-Dragon.

On an episode of KBS2TV’s “Entertainment Relay” airing January 28th, Sandara Park revealed “Looking at G-Dragon, I once thought I could date a man like this.”

She continued, “Not too long ago, I went skiing with G-Dragon. Usually he is very shy so he doesn’t even talk much, but he carried my snowboard for me without saying anything.”

G-Dragon responded, “When Sandara was walking down with her snowboard, she looked like she was carrying two people. It looked like she was having trouble so I helped her. I’m rather thankful that she viewed me in a good way.”

Meanwhile, T.O.P, who was listening in, replied, “I didn’t go to the ski resort at the time, but if I had gone, I think that I may have been chosen too.”

Aw, YG-Family love. Fans sure do love seeing artists from the same company maintaining good relationships with each other. Or does Dara-gon exist after all?

President YG doesn't mind YG Artist for imitating him?

YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyunsuk’s voice is infamous as YG artists are always imitating his voice in a high, nasally and comic way. Yang Hyunsuk said in an interview:

“My artists are always imitating me, so of course I would watch the shows they’re on. They never do this in front of me but when I see them imitating my voice on shows, I think ‘Ah! So they always fool around like this’ and ‘Ah! So my tone is like this’. I’m not unhappy with the imitations, in fact I find it very interesting.”

He also said that he likes PSY and Big Bang’s G-Dragon and Seungri’s imitations the most, stating:

“When I saw G-Dragon and PSY imitating me on a show, I thought it was very similar and very funny. Seungri imitated my voice at last years YG Family concert. It was very well done.”

MNet accidentally insults Minzy?

At the beginning of the month, one of IU's backup dancer was caught up in a controversy. The backup dancer seen with IU in "Good Day" has been affectionally nicknamed "Bong Dancer". Netizens had accused him of insulting 2NE1's maknae, Minzy, on his minihompy.

The "Bong Dancer" had uploaded an image of himself and captioned it "kong minji roe", which is a derogatory nickname for Minzy by anti-fans. Recently, MNet aired an episode of "Daejongkyulja", which compared SNSD and 2NE1 in various categories. 

In a cut where Minzy is dancing, the caption says, "Minzy's specialty and hobby is dance. Her dance is what they call 'kong minji roe'." However, in MNet's case, 'kong minji roe' means 'land mines' and was simply poor choice of words to describe her.

CL to experiment with solo releases?

2 weeks ago, 2NE1's leader CL was spotted in France and everyone speculated as to what was her purpose there. Rumors have popped up that a YG contact said she was there to discuss a future solo career. 

These rumors state that CL will launch a solo career in conjunction with 2NE1. In 2009, the power singer Bom released her solo song "You and I", and now CL may try her hand at it. 2NE1 seems to be following in the same footsteps as their label-mates Big Bang by experiencing music in solo projects.

The quartet is currently gearing up to make their American debut with the help of Black Eyed Peas' Will.i.am. Before that, the girls will make their debut in Japan next month as well as release another Korean album later this year, showing that 2NE1 is set to have a busy 2011.

YG Entertainment to release 'YG Family Concert 2010 Photobook'

Fans of YG Entertainment can look forward to February. The company has revealed that it will release a photobook dedicated to the making of the 2010 YG Family Concert, which took place December 4th and 5th, and featured YG artists Psy, Big Bang, 2NE1, Se7en, and Gummy. 

Titled "YG Family Concert 2010 Photobook", the book will contain 300 pictures detailing such activities like the practices before the event, backstage antics from the performers, and of course, some concert photography thrown in for good measure. The photobook will be released February 14th.

Pre-debut photo of Minzy divides netizens on issues of body image

2NE1’s maknae Minzy has found herself to be at the heart of a debate between netizens on what would be considered as the ‘ideal’ body image. 

Minzy’s audition footage from 2007 was recently posted on an online portal site, and netizens have been commenting on how skinnier she was back then. However, the 14 year old seen in the video has been labelled by some as ‘Bones Minzy’.

In order to provide a better understanding of the contrast between Minzy then and Minzy now, netizens posted a side-by-side comparison of the two selves. There were some who viewed Minzy’s current image as being "overweight", as they commented, “It was only four years ago…It is surprising that you had a time like this” and “You gain more weight as time goes on TT Please lose some weight…”

However, others asserted that Minzy looked healthy and proportional, as they praised, “You still look very good!” and “It is better to have a little weight rather than being stick skinny!”

CL of 2NE1 having a good time with the two babies have attracted many attention.

Sean tweeted on his twitter, “CL fell asleep with a smile along with the children. Did she have too much fun with the other children?” Along with this tweet, he posted these pictures.

In the pictures above, CL is looking at the child lying down with a big smile on her face having a good time. She is  also holding the baby in a stable pose and smiling naturally.

CL and actress Han Go Eun to guest judge for ‘Project Runway Korea 3′

2NE1’s CL and actress Han Go Eun will appear as guest judges for “Project Runway Korea 3″!

A press conference for the show was held in Seoul, where the show’s representatives stated, “CL and Han Go Eun have been decided to come on as our guest judges for one episode. World-renown designer Jeremy Scott also came especially to Korea in order to appear as a guest judge as well.”

They’ll be joining the regular panelists for the show, Andy & Debb’s Kim Suk Won and fashion magazine editor Jeon Mi Kyung of “Bazaar“.

The first broadcast will air on January 29th at 11PM KST.

People ask about "Why do 2NE1 nominated for 2011 Korean Music Awards instead of SNSD and KARA?"

The committee held a press conference at the Rachel Carson Hall on the morning of January 25th, the committee revealed their nominees for a total of 25 different categories. With artists like 2NE1, miss A, Taeyang, Hot Potato, and many others up for an award, many fans were thrown off by the fact that KARA and SNSD were missing from the list.

When asked whether SNSD and KARA were purposely excluded from the nominations, Park Eun Seok replied, “There’s a lot of controversy over us not choosing popular artists for a popular music awards show, but I think that there’s a bit of confusion over the definition of  ’popular music’. Popular music does not mean the public’s music. We consider the music in its entirety, without taking the level of awareness the song has, or its public and commercial achievement.”

He continued, “We did not exclude SNSD and KARA on purpose. We did consider them, and although they made it to the finals, our results showed that miss A and 2NE1 made it further than SNSD and KARA. As you know, an awards ceremony judges the performances of others. Up until the final nominations, girl groups had to compete to get there. We did not dismiss anyone based on the premise of having won an award last year. At the finals, results showed that miss A managed to make it while the others didn’t.”

Kim Chang Nam agreed by adding, “We only took KARA’s music and promotion into consideration. Their issue with their agency does not affect being nominated for our awards.”

Choi Ji Sun stated, “In the case of girl group idol music, genre plays a large role. In my personal opinion, idol music was fresh up until last year, but it was a bit lacking this year. miss A and 2NE1 both made a considerable amount of achievements worthy of attention, which is why they were included in the nominations.”

2NE1 nominated at “2011 Korean Music Awards”

On January 25th, the selection committee members for the “2011 Korean Music Awards” held a press conference to reveal the nominations for their awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony was created with the intent to treat pop musicians as artists, not as entertainers; consequently, this award focused more on their achievements instead of their sales. There are a total of 25 different categories, and nominations were made by a selection committee.

Their report shows that 2NE1’s “Can’t Nobody” and f(x)’s “Nu ABO” were nominated for the ‘Best Dance & Electronic Song’ category. miss A’s “Bad Girl Good Girl” was also elected to receive the ‘Best Dance & Electronic Song’ award, but it also made its way to the ‘Song of the Year’ category.

Taeyang’s “Solar” album and his “I Need a Girl” single were both nominated for ‘Best R&B and Soul’ album and song categories respectively.

Considering how last year’s ceremony featured a larger variety of artists (such as SNSD, Brown Eyed Girls, Baek Ji Young, and other major non-idols), the nominations for this year have visibly shrunk.

Panelist Kim Chang Nam commented, “We did not differentiate between mainstream and non-mainstream. All songs and albums were tested under the standards by 60 different members on the committee. We tried our best in combining the musical tastes and judging standards in our nominee decisions.”  

The awards ceremony will be held on February 23rd.
