CL’s soon-to-be-released debut album in
the US has been chosen as one of the “8 albums to get excited about this
fall” by Entertainment Weekly (EW) – an US entertainment magazine.
EW chose eight albums that fans should
look out for this fall and announced it on September 2 (local time).
Along with CL’s debut album (title yet to be determined), Car Seat
Headrest’s “Teens of Style”, BØRNS’ “Dopamine”, and Bob Moses’ “Days
Gone By” were among the eight most expected albums.
EW wrote “K-pop sensation CL (Lee
Chaerin) is heading stateside this fall as she releases her first EP
with Mad Decent.” About CL’s collaboration with world-renowned artists,
EW commented “She introduced herself through choice collaborations with
tastemakers du jour Diplo (who doubles as Mad Decent’s labelhead) and
Skrillex with the frenetic dance-pop-rap mashup “Dirty Vibe,” which
featured fellow Korean G-Dragon.“
EW also expressed high expectations for
her album by saying, “And if her prior collabs with Diplo are any
indication, despite her switching to an English language performance, we
won’t be getting a “Westernized” version of her unique pop-rap style.“
Even
though she hasn’t made her official debut in the US yet, CL has been
getting a lot of spotlight from the foreign press including EW, BBC,
Rolling Stones, Billboard, Complex, and Fuse TV. Already, CL has
performed several times in the US and will continue her MDBP tour in Berkley, California and LA on September 11 and 19.
Meanwhile,
CL received much attention from the media when she attended MTV’s Video
Music Awards with the world famous fashion designer Jeremy Scott on
August 31.
