Dara shared a photo that got her abs in headlines.
On December 17, Dara shared the photo she took with iKON above on Instagram with the message, "The YG maknaes and Dara noona~." The
2NE1 member can be seen holding up small hearts, while the iKON members
smile around her. Judging from her stage outfit, it seems that the boys
of iKON visited 2NE1 backstage.
Netizens commented, "'Finding Sugar Man' goes more smoothly now that she's not on. I think this photo is from the 'Mnet Asian Music Awards'," "Dara is pretty. I like iKON too," "YG Family," and more.
It's been a bountiful year for YG to say the least, what with Big Bang's immense success with their acclaimed 'MADE' series, iKON's powerful debut, CL's solo Western debut, and 'world star' Psy's comeback! To say it was a good year for Yang Hyun Suk
is an understatement, and the industry mogul is probably brainstorming
new ways for his artists to overstep the boundaries and reach new
heights.
To get a peek inside the man behind all these successful artists, Daily Sports sat down with Yang Hyun Suk for an interview, during which he was asked him about Psy, Big Bang, and 2NE1 performing once again as a four-member group.
When the interviewer remarked, "At this year's MAMA, 2NE1's performance seems to have been the hottest issue," Papa YG answered, "It
was a surprise gift for the fans who were missing and wanted to see
2NE1. Keeping it a secret was of utmost importance. The members rode the
airplane separately, and they didn't even go near the venue. So [the
MAMA stage] didn't even have any rehearsals. They weren't even together
in the waiting room. After MAMA aired, many people were curious about
2NE1's possible comeback, but there are no specific plans yet. It was
just a surprise present for fans who have been missing 2NE1 for a long
time."
Aww..so I guess 2NE1 won't be making a comeback anytime soon, but don't lose hope just yet Blackjacks!
The 2015 MAMA was a playground for the big three — YG Entertainment, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment — again this year, according to a report by TV Daily.
So much so, that some are asking whether or not they had too much of the focus of the night, considering the fact that Mnet, according to the report by TV Daily, did not even invite some of the other award nominees to attend the show.
The difference in presence can clearly be seen comparing performance times for the agencies and artists.
Out of the big three, YG by far had the most performance
air time during the show. Out of the total performance time of 1 hour
and 48 minutes, YG artists made up 40.35 percent of that, with 43
minutes and 35 seconds on stage. Although, if the Mel0n Music Awards held earlier this year were any indication, this is no surprise.
Since all four members of 2NE1 took to stage at '2015 MAMA', people are wondering: Is 2NE1 making a comeback? Is Park Bom finally making a comeback? The answer is unfortunately, not anytime soon.
YG Entertainment's rep told MyDaily, "There
are no plans for Park Bom's comeback yet. The MAMA stage was a surprise
present for fans. For the time being, there won't be any new songs by
2NE1, and we will be focused on CL's solo promotions."
This
was Park Bom's first time on stage in a year and 5 months, but it looks
like we'll have to wait again until the next time she performs.
It's too bad 2NE1's comeback is still on hold for now. Do you want 2NE1 to make a comeback quickly?
CL has graced the cover of fashion magazine Grazia for a good cause.
For this photo shoot, CL worked with Grazia and a charity group
called “Operation Smile,” which provides medical fees to children with
facial deformities.
CL explained, “I’ve been wanting to participate in such a meaningful and
fun project. If the children need a school, I want to build a school
for them, too. I can’t do such a thing right now but that’s my long-term
goal.”
The star also participated in brainstorming different concepts and
props for this particular pictorial.
She even personally met up with one
of the children that “Operation Smile” helped to spend some
time together.
Fans will be able to check out CL’s pictorial in the December issue of Grazia on December 5.
We bet you were surprised when not only CL but all of 2NE1 performed at '2015 MAMA'.
In a good way, right? It's been so long since we've seen them all
perform together! You know how you reacted when you saw it, but how did
Korean netizens react?
What
happened was that after CL's solo performance, one by one the rest of
the 2NE1 members came on stage, surprising the audience and viewers
alike, as they performed "I Am The Best". The crowd went wild and
cheered loudly for each and every member, but it looks like overall
netizens saw it a little differently.
This is how Korean netizens reacted (taken from a popular Newsen article about 2NE1's performance:
Top comments with over a thousand likes:
"I was surprised once by CL's back dancer, then surprised by Minzy's tongue, then surprised by Park Bom's face...please stop...she touched on her nose again."
"Did Park Bom even self-reflect?"
"What
did they do this year to come out? They should be ashamed, they'll be
the first and last girl group to do drugs and come out to an awards
ceremony...it seems like."
Other recent comments:
"I
knew Park Bom was always like this. I was even more surprised by seeing
Minzy... They say it's 2NE1, but there's no Minzy.." (referring to
plastic surgery)
"I was shocked by CL's padding...she got too greedy with that."
"Why is a criminal out here?"
"No matter how important an awards ceremony is, and how strong Yang Hyun Suk's pressure is, this is not right. Do fans still look like dupes? When has our country been lenient on drugs?"
"She said she would self-reflect, but she did plastic surgery... Besides Dara, they were all busy changing their appearance kekekeke. Park Bom and Minzy with plastic surgery and CL with her makeup."
The comments towards the 2NE1 members were overwhelmingly negative,
not only critical towards Park Bom but the other members too. Hopefully
international netizens don't think the same way!
So let us know what you think of the 2NE1 members performing at '2015 MAMA' down below.
CL's new solo release "Hello Bitches" is powerful and impressive to say the least, and the rapper's high-profile friend, Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber, seems to be feeling the track!
The singer gave a nod in CL's (Parris Goebel and Zane Lowe too!) direction with a short Twitter post that reads "This is dope" and linking to the dance performance video for "Hello Bitches."
YG Entertainment’s YGSTAGE unveils alluring photos of Dara in a series of creative content project titled, Maison de Jasmine.
On November 11th, YG STAGE, the latest platform in charge of
promoting YG Entertainment’s actors and actress, released the first part
of Dara’s creative content collection. The photos highlighted Dara in a
series of subtle poses, creating a calm and dreamy feel, as it gains
much interest for the outcome of their concept.
Currently, Dara remains active in promoting her own projects as an actress and entertainer appearing in programs such as Missing Korea and Sugar Man.
So is it or is it not a 2NE1 comeback in the making?
Fans have become confident that it was indeed the return of the YG girl group after the clues using "21" in the date and time as well as the recurring appearances of Park Bom in public. However, an exclusive report from dongA.com has claimed that according to an insider on November 12, the 'Who's Next?' actually marks the solo comeback for leader, CL!
The rep has dished that CL had been preparing her solo music early
on, has completed work on it, and was preparing for her comeback stage.
She allegedly teased for her Korean comeback by posting a selca of her
short, light gray hair with the words, "Makeup test." on Instagram.
The report also recalls past words by Yang Hyun Suk, who had stated at an October press conference, "Firstly,
we are focusing on CL, so you can expect good news shortly. We are
going to think of 2NE1's return after the completion of CL's solo
promotions."
If this is true, what might it also
mean for her American debut which was promised for this year? Hello,
there's barely two months left!
On another note, rumors
are rapidly spreading that it was originally a 2NE1 comeback, but YG
has changed his direction to a CL solo at the very last minute, because
Park Bom's drug scandal issues were beginning to be re-ignited by
netizens.
YG Entertainment is killing it this year! With iKON, WINNER and Psy
all coming back before the year ends, now we can all rejoice because
2NE1 has also been confirmed.
Few days ago a big question got everyone in a flurry: "Who's Next?" with only the date and time on the poster. Well now you know.
Many
fans speculated it was 2NE1, but YG Entetainment has confirmed it just
now, so this year, let alone November will be a crazy month!
The comeback rumour mill continues as Park Bom is spotted once more at YG Entertainment’s headquarters in Seoul, South Korea.
On November 10th, Bom raised more speculations of a possible 2NE1 comeback as she was spotted leaving YG Entertainment alongside their personal trainer, Hwang Ssabu. The public sighting was captured by fans in the area and immediately gained a lot of interest from their fans online.
Since declaring her hiatus, this has been the second time that the singer was spotted, sparking comeback speculations after her first public appearance since last month. Since then, fans have been discussing their return as it coincided with Yang Hyun Suk’s anniversary post followed by CL’s update.
Fans feasted on speculations on 2NE1’s big return after one of CL’s latest Instagram updates went viral.
On November 10th, CL posted a vague update on her personal Instagram
account, teasing fans of a possible comeback speculation. The photo was
also posted with the tag “ALL OR NOTHING,” which can be recalled was the title of their last album promotions.
Fans also speculated on the vague post as it roughly features four
people and was heavily blurred and pixelated to avoid speculations. The
update strengthened previous suspicions that 2NE1 is the artist being
referred to YG Entertainment’s latest “Who’s Next” teaser.
The post, however, was since deleted and was replaced by a number of photos of CL on a make-up test.
With YG Entertainment teasing fans for their “Who’s Next” poster, netizens cannot help but question if it pertains to a possible 2NE1 comeback.
For the past few days, YG Entertainment ha been teasing fans with a
number of posters asking “Who’s Next.” However, as the poster pertains
to a possible release date on November 21st at 21:00 KST, fans and
netizens alike cannot help but wonder if the the coincidences in the use
of the numbers 21, pertains to girl group 2NE1.
It is particularly evident to their respective social media accounts
where their official pages were flooded with 2NE1-related queries since
the teasers were posted.
Meanwhile, the group has been gathering a bit of talk recently after Yang Hyun Suk posted a personal post celebrating 2NE1’s sixth year anniversary, which was followed by news of Bom’s public sighting at their agency’s headquarters.
Last week, YG Entertainment has dropped their big question that gets everyone in a flurry: "Who's Next?" with only the date on the poster. Now, they have added a time that has tongues wagging even faster trying to guess "Who's Next"!
Initially, fans were guessing that the comeback would be the second half of iKON's album, WINNER, or Akdong Musician, though now they are even less sure. Teases from YG Entertainment have also suggested that Psy could be prepping his comeback as well. With this new update, a very symbolic time "November 21st at 21:00" previous speculations have been thrown out the window with guesses leaning strongly to a surprise 2NE1 comeback.
With
so many other releases in the wings, and 2NE1's public image still not
100% repaired, it would be a surprise indeed if 2NE1 were next in line
for a release, though Blackjacks would of course be ecstatic. A more
likely scenario is that CL's long-awaited US release will drop this month and or the girls will release, but not promote, a single.
In any case, YGE has certainly got a knack for getting us in a frenzy with their vague teasers.
Who do you think will be dropping new music on November 21st?
CL and Taeyang made a statement at a recent event for 'Teddy x Phiaton', a collaboration between YG Entertainment producer Teddy and the brand Phiaton for special edition headphones.
It looks like CL and Taeyang attended the showcase event to show Teddy
some support, and they made fashion statements as expected of YG
artists. Both idol stars look sleek and chic in all-black outfits with
CL showing a little bit of cleavage.
As previously mentioned, the set of stylish headphones made a splash when both G-Dragon and T.O.P were spotted wearing a set on MBC's 2015 'Infinity Challenge' music special.
Sandara Park will be an MC on the JTBC variety show “Searching for Sugar Man.”
She will be working alongside Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Hee Yeol, who were MCs on the pilot episodes of the variety show that aired in August.
On being chosen as the MC for the show, Dara stated, “This is my
first time being a regular MC so I’m happy, first of all. I think it
will be a great opportunity. I’m glad that I get to work with the best
MC, the best composer and lyricist. I think I would also like to perform
on the show as a current musician, if possible.”
“Searching for Sugar Man,” which will unearth forgotten hit singers
from the past in a competition-style program, will premiere as a regular
program in October. This will be Dara’s first time being a main MC on a
variety program.
Minzy, the group's adorable maknae, who has flowered into a gorgeous lady, has opened up her very own dance studio called 'Millennium Dance Academy'!
The singer uploaded a picture of herself posing in front of her portrait at the studio, sharing with her Instagram followers, "I'm at my @millennium_dance_academy," linking to the dance school's official social media accounts.
If
you visit the studio's official Instagram and YouTube page, you will
see that they have been posting stuff since four days back! Looks like
the academy has already scouted some talented dancers with some sick
moves. Be sure to check them out, and of course, congratulate Minzy!
It is well-nigh two years that Blackjacks have last seen their
queens. With the recent, distressing rumors of the group's disbandment,
fans can't help but fret and wonder, what's in store for the fierce
ladies of 2NE1?
'Newsen'
has released the contents of the interview with Yang Hyun Suk held this
past October 3, during which he revealed 2NE1's future plans.
Staying ever discreet, Papa YG didn't disclose much when he told the media outlet "As of now, we are focusing on CL's American debut. After she does well [in America], we will think of [plans for] 2NE1," and added, "2NE1 is contracted until next year."
At this
ominous statement, fans are once again worried about the possible
disbandment of 2NE1. Media has reported that the group is "on the verge of breaking up," and that their disbandment is considered "a fact within YG." However, the label has denied all these claims.
CL is here to represent in her solo interview for San Francisco's radio station '99.7 NOW!' She talked to the radio DJ about everything we're interested in, including 2NE1, personal things about herself, her music and her fashion.
CL
looks flawless, her English is flawless, and she's so comfortable,
despite the fact that it's her first official U.S. radio interview! She
talks about Scooter Braun, Jeremy Scott, and more, so this is definitely an interview you don't want to miss.
CL and Dara got the attention of their Blackjacks after a short reunion video of the two went viral.
On September 8th, Dara updated fans from her personal trip
to Los Angeles, California, where she was greeted by her fellow member,
CL. In the short video, Dara was seen entering the hotel room and
dramatically running towards CL, who then gave her a tight hug and was
posted with the caption, “Run to baby Rin!!!”
The video gathered much interest from their fans as CL has
been shying away from 2NE1 while she focuses on her upcoming debut
promotions in the United States.
'Dazed' (formerly known as Dazed & Confused) has just picked 11 songs which they think fashion will soon be obsessed with.
The magazine says they 'looked into their crystal ball' to predict
which tracks are going to be popular in SS16 (the Spring/Summer 2016
season).
The list includes popular artists includingJustin Bieber, Katy Perry, Rihanna, and more, but what's most notable is that CL's "The Baddest Female" has made it to the number 9 spot! It's also the only K-pop song on the list.
In
addition, the day before, 'Dazed' also put out a Top 13 K-Pop playlist
titled 'K-Pop's Fashion Crossover Stars'. The American track CL is
featured in, "Doctor Pepper" takes the number one spot, followed by songs from other top artists like Big Bang, G-Dragon, SHINee, Girls' Generation, f(x), and 4minute. CL's "The Baddest Female" makes it onto this list as well.
CL’s soon-to-be-released debut album in
the US has been chosen as one of the “8 albums to get excited about this
fall” by Entertainment Weekly (EW) – an US entertainment magazine.
EW chose eight albums that fans should
look out for this fall and announced it on September 2 (local time).
Along with CL’s debut album (title yet to be determined), Car Seat
Headrest’s “Teens of Style”, BØRNS’ “Dopamine”, and Bob Moses’ “Days
Gone By” were among the eight most expected albums.
EW wrote “K-pop sensation CL (Lee
Chaerin) is heading stateside this fall as she releases her first EP
with Mad Decent.” About CL’s collaboration with world-renowned artists,
EW commented “She introduced herself through choice collaborations with
tastemakers du jour Diplo (who doubles as Mad Decent’s labelhead) and
Skrillex with the frenetic dance-pop-rap mashup “Dirty Vibe,” which
featured fellow Korean G-Dragon.“
EW also expressed high expectations for
her album by saying, “And if her prior collabs with Diplo are any
indication, despite her switching to an English language performance, we
won’t be getting a “Westernized” version of her unique pop-rap style.“
Even
though she hasn’t made her official debut in the US yet, CL has been
getting a lot of spotlight from the foreign press including EW, BBC,
Rolling Stones, Billboard, Complex, and Fuse TV. Already, CL has
performed several times in the US and will continue her MDBP tour in Berkley, California and LA on September 11 and 19.
Meanwhile,
CL received much attention from the media when she attended MTV’s Video
Music Awards with the world famous fashion designer Jeremy Scott on
August 31.
CL's looking absolutely gorgeous on the September cover of 'InStyle Korea'.
We were impressed with her previously released photos a few weeks ago,
but it's time to get even more up close and personal with the starlet
through a video interview and the rest of her photoshoot!
The
interview took place in L.A. where her photoshoot was held, for a
'Questionnaire de Proust' interview, which is a questionnaire about a

CL's recent comments in an interview she held with New-York based magazine Paper are making headlines.
The 2NE1 member and her well-known bestie designer Jeremy Scott held
a photo shoot with Paper magazine, and the interview was just released
on September 1. CL's comments about Asian women in particular are
getting some negative feedback with some netizens claiming that her
statements were insulting.
CL was asked about the definition of "luxury" and her career as a global pop star when she responded, "Girls
in Asia are very obedient, shy, timid, quiet, but I can tell that it's
changing, and I want them to be stronger and tell them that it's OK to
be different. Being special is a luxury, and I don't think we have that.
Yet."
She continued, "I think a lot of the young kids
right now are looking for something new, and they want to look
different. Especially girls, and this is why I'm trying to come out here
— to set an example of an Asian girl. A lot of Asian girls love being
basic because it's safe. But the thing is, a lot of my fans are those
girls, and they want to be bolder, but there's no one they could look up
to and be like, 'It's OK to be that way.'"
Some netizens are asserting that her statements about Asian girls being "obedient, shy, timid, quiet" as well as "basic because it's safe" are insensitive.
Prepare to stare in awe, as CL stuns in a long black gown with cool chain embellishment at this year's MTV VMAs held in Los Angeles, California.
Last night, the MTV 'Video Music Awards', hosted by the colorful Miley Cyrus, aired
live across the world. Many K-pop fans tuned in to a familiar face on
the red carpet. CL, together with close friend designer Jeremy Scott,
strutting her fierceness on the red carpet prior to attending the show.
For fans eagerly awaiting her US debut in September this was a welcome
surprise.
In addition, despite all the major stars rockin' their best, 'Refinery29.com', a popular one-stop website for fashion, style, and shopping, named her one of the best dressed of the night. They gushed, "K-Pop
superstar CL, from group 2NE1, might have been missing the rest of her
girl gang, but she came to the VMAs with her family ties represented:
She wore a Moschino creation designed by her BFF, one Jeremy Scott. This
choker-to-waistbelt chain harness is definitely more interesting than
your garden-variety accessory."
We were promised more photos of Dara for Philippines popular fashion brand 'Penshoppe' and here they are!
How
cute does she look in the sporty, athletic gear? We're loving the
casual yet stylish looks she's sporting. Of all the endorsement models
for the brand, we think Dara looks the best.
Check out all of her released photos below. Enjoy!
