I Love You Accumulates 2 Million Downloads in 8 Weeks
After spending 7 weeks in the Top 10, 'I Love You' finally succumbs to new releases and falls out of the Top 10, landing at #13 for the week on GAON's digital chart. It remains at #6, however, on the streaming and norebang charts suggesting that people are still replaying and enjoying the song. Another 100,000 downloads puts 'I Love You' over the 2 million download mark and equal to Girl's Day's hit song 'Twinkle Twinkle', from 2011 and with over 11 million more DAs this week 2NE1's 'I Love You' has matched the DAs of their song 'Hate You' from 2011. Check out the full chart below.
On the Billboard K-pop Hot 100, 2NE1 also comes in at #13 but lablemate Psy continues to hold 3 spots in the Top 10 for YG Entertainment. Would G-Dragon have taken the #1 spot with his new single 'One of a Kind' if it had been made available for purchase? We'll never know now, but man, 8 consecutive weeks of YG artists at #1 on Billboard would have been awesome.
This year rookies with slower/ballad/acoustic type songs have done extremely well (Ailee, Busker Busker, Juniel) so perhaps we can expect a ballad from 2NE1 and other YG artists in the future. That's all for this week, perhaps next week we will get monthly numbers for August from GAON but if not the week after for sure. So look out for that.
