It's not an "Ugly" day for 2NE1 as they win their 1st Inkigayo Mutizen

After wowing with great vocals yesterday at MBC's Music Core and wins on MCountdown and KBS' Music Bank, anticipation and expections were high for 2NE1 on today's SBS Inkigayo. Did our girls meet expectations?

"UGLY" Wows!!

The stage was glamorous, to say the least, with a starry background and decadent golden and red lamp-like props, reminiscent of a European chateau. The lighting design turned into a mix of blinking yellow, purple and blue with the energy and lights rising when the girls took off their masks. The entire mood transforms when 2NE1 literally spring into their dance and chorus. Again, the girls showcased their vocal ability by belting out their notes soulfully, with no signs of faltering. Take a look for yourself...

Forget the white, 2NE1 opted to go ALL-BLACK in sleek leggings with black blazers of varying styles. Dubbed the Masquerade Concept, by k-media the girls once again do a 180-degree turn with their fashion and yet it matches the song perfectly. The maknaes blazers had more of a shiny sheen where as the Park Sisters were matte colored. Despite the muted style of their clothes, the stage was just as energetic as before. In fact, the clothing and unique face masks really helped to set an intense start to the performance, drawing the viewers in.

"UGLY" Wins!!

This week's Take 7 was chock-full or strong singles including: MBLAQ's [Mona Lisa], Miss A's [Goodbye Baby], INFINITE's [Be Mine], TEENTOP's [No More Perfume on You], and T-ara's [Roly Poly in Copacabana]. Our girls were able to come out on top though, making it a "triple crown" on this week's music charts. 

All the way from the back of the stage, 2NE1 ran towards the center to accept their second Mutizen (first on Inkigayo) for 'Ugly'. Our elated girls couldn't help but express their thanks over their triumphant comeback, giving shoutouts to YG sajangnim and Papa Teddy, the makeup artists who makes them pretty and to the Blackjacks who never failed to support them. This week has been wonderful for 2NE1. Let's continue to support the girls and hope for their continuous winning streak.

Will this momentum continue through next week? Well, the 2nd Mini Album is selling solidly on Hanteo, consistently has three songs onMelon's Real-time including Ugly at #1, and Ugly is #1 (Hate You is #7) on Instiz , that is wonderful momentum going into next week. Of course, we expect Super Junior's massive album sales to give them a huge advantage, but 2NE1 could still squeak out one or two wins next week. It's 2NE1 so anything is possible.

Just like yesterday, excited fans managed to trend "Congrats 2NE1" worldwide shortly after 2NE1's win was announced. The perfect ending to a fantastic week for 2NE1.
