On April 19th, veteran singer Kim Wan Sun held a press conference for the release of her latest album, “Super Love”. When asked by reporters whether she had any juniors that she was looking forward to, she replied, “Musically and stylistically, 2NE1 has the feel of a musician. They’re my juniors, but I think that they’re both amazing and impressive.”

After making her debut in 1986 with the album "Tonight," Kim was called "the dancing queen of the K-pop renaissance era." She is known for her beauty, clear voice, charismatic performance and catchy hits during the mid 1980s and the early 1990s. Her fifth studio album, released in 1990 and offered 3 consecutive # 1 songs, is still holding the record for "the first and the last album that sold more than 1 million copies by female artist in K-POP history". She will be breaking her six-year hiatus this year by releasing her comeback album on April 21st.
She continued to reporters, “I also like Um Jung Hwa (sic) and Lee Hyori, as well as the healthy charm of After School’s UEE. Looking at them individually, they’re all amazing, talented friends. If I had debuted in this generation, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to compete against them.”
Kim Wan Sun also gave a piece of advice to the industry by stating, “[p]ersonally, I like analog music that’s gone through the hands of many. Lately, however, it feels like the industry is too focused on one specific genre. I hope that a more variety of genres are able to emerge again.”
She continued, "[t]here are a lot of unique idols lately, and it’s quite disappointing that they’re clumped together and judged as a whole instead of for their individual talents. I believe that once they mature and seek their own music, the music industry will not only become more diverse, but have more to offer as well.”
It's an honor for 2ne1 to be recognized by such a well-regarded sunbae of female Kpop. Check out a compilation of her most memorable moments HERE (Keep in mind this was the 80' and 90's so the styling ) or her latest teaser below. Even at 41 she is still as sexy and fierce as over.
