2NE1, Despite the Music Video setback will release the new song on 7th of August as planned!

[OSEN=박현민 기자] Despite the setback in their music video production, girl group 2NE1 plans to keep their promise with fans by releasing the sound clip of the new song DO YOU LOVE ME on 7th of August.

On YG’s official blog, CEO Yang Hyun-suk posted that “2NE1 has already successfully completed the choreography of the song with a new choreographer from abroad. Yet, there has been a bit of a setback for the production of the music video, which was scheduled to be directed by Seo Hyun-seung.”

“This kind of thing is very common when working on albums. Normally, people in the business delay the release date for a couple of weeks. However, 2NE1 is planning to release a new song every month so if we postpone this month’s release, it will create a domino-effect leading to the delays for the next songs. This will become a major setback for 2NE1’s plan” said Yang.

So as a stopgap measure, YG decided to create a home video with mobile phones and old-fashioned cameras. This plan took into consideration that 2NE1 enjoys higher YouTube viewership among fans around the world compared to many other Korean girl groups.

“We believe that this home video style can work as it will show a natural and casual aspect of 2NE1, who has so far showcased several music videos emphasizing their unique fashion styles in glamorous sets. It came from an idea that tried to make the best of the situation” he stated.

Due to this schedule, 2NE1 finished their TV promotion activities for FALLING IN LOVE after appearing on SBS’s Music Trend (Inkigayo) last week.

Regarding 2NE1’s upcoming new song DO YOU LOVE ME, set to be released on 7th of August, Yang asked for support that “the upcoming song, produced by YG’s main producer TEDDY, is full of fierceness and excitement that suits the summer season, just like I Am The Best released in the summer of 2011.”

2NE1 to release 'Do You Love Me' on August 7th!

It seems like just yesterday that 2NE1 had their comeback with "Falling In Love", but the girls are already set on their 2nd title song, called "Do You Love Me"!

As per 2NE1 style, "Do You Love Me" is Teddy's work, and it's an intense, exciting song perfect for the summer - just like "I Am The Best"! They're already done with the choreography (YG tells us it's by a foreign choreographer), but there's a bit of a problem with the MV.

However, no worries, as the girls are planning to release "Do You Love Me" right on time on the 7th! Instead of an MV, the 2NE1 members will be using their cell phones and old-fashioned cameras to make their own 'home video' style music video.

That'll be a completely new look for 2NE1, who's always had a flashy, high-budget MV. Since the girls finished up "Falling in Love" promotions, get ready for their "Do You Love Me" wave!

2NE1 Talks Long-Awaited Return, U.S. Debut Rumors!

"All the great energy we received during our world tour reflects on our new album" -CL

Since their fiery, eye-catching debut in 2009, 2NE1 has generated a relentless and diverse string of hits like the club banger “Fire,” mid-tempo R&B track “I Don't Care,” the emotionally-vulnerable “Lonely,” rock-influenced “Ugly,” hard-hitting “I Am The Best” and last year’s K-Pop Hot 100 No. 1 “I Love You.” All of which were heard on the girls' first world tour, keeping them busy throughout 2012.

After a year's break from the K-pop scene, the YG Entertainment girl group quartet are finally back with another the genre-blurring "Falling In Love" with a plan to roll out a new single every month until dropping a new album in October.

If “I Love You” roped in listeners for its innovative combination of electronic beats and singing style of trot (the oldest form of Korean pop music), their latest, “Falling In Love,” grabs ears for its reggae beat intertwined with hip-hop stylings.

Falling In Love,” released July 8, is a refreshing hybrid of surging reggae rhythms and a jaunty, feel-good melody. The sophisticated, very-catchy track is accentuated by each member’s unique vocal strengths resulting in a summer love anthem packed with loads of sass. The song was produced by YG’s in-house producer Teddy and Choice 37 -- both of whom were responsible for YG sonic goodies like BIGBANG’s “Bad Boy,” “Fantastic Baby,” G-Dragon’s “One Of A Kind,” Lee Hi’s “Rose” not to mention a slew of 2NE1 hits.

After their first TV appearance on Mnet’s “M! Countdown,” the girls (fashionably dressed in matching London artist’s Kesh’s collaboration line with American Apparel), met with Billboard for an exclusive interview at YG Entertainment's Seoul headquarters to discuss their new musical direction, concept and plans for rest of 2013.

"We are extremely excited as this is our first single in a long time,” says the self-proclaimed "Baddest Female" and seemingly-fearless leader CL. "It is actually our first official album release in two years. We really wanted to be onstage together so I think it’s going to be fun. All the great energy we received during our world tour is reflected on our new album."

In "Falling in Love," 2NE1 sets aside their tough, hard-edged charisma to find their inner femininity, displaying a striking transformation as they sweetly croon and rap. Take for example, the translated lyric, "My lips are drying up, my insides are freezing up; I can't look at you, you're so dazzling boy, I'm so blind."

"We wanted to come out with a summery, fun track," explains CL of their newest musical offering. "It is a love song that is definitely not scary [laughs]. It was a daring move for us since it is a love song with positive lyrics. I think it will display 2NE1's cuteness as well loveliness. We were all about showing our fierce charisma with 'I Am The Best,' so through this stage, we plan to smile and present our loveliness as much as we can."

Their in-your-face stage presence is nowhere to be found as they brightly smile and lightly float on stage.

"We felt a burning passion for this new track,” says Sandara. “It felt like we were starting fresh as this was our first time pursuing a sweet, love song.

2NE1's musical power lies in their ability to discard the old and adopt new styles. The easy-to-sing-along melody on top of CL’s bouncy, yet heavy, rapping and Park Bom's soulful vocals turns anything into an immediate head-bopper.

Fans will be able to see more of 2NE1 in the later half of this year. They'll release a single and accompanying music video once a month, until the album is released in October and there are plans to promote at least four all new tracks from the upcoming album. However, their most anticipated schedule is their upcoming exclusive concert in Korea.

2NE1 plans to launch their long-awaited concert in Korea, sometime in October or November. "We want to meet as many fans as we can through our performances," say the girls collectively. "We love performing onstage and we hope to learn a lot from the people we'll work with through our concert."

So what about the U.S. debut the girls have been teasing for so long?

Despite working with will.i.am (2NE1 featured on "#willpower" track, “Gettin' Dumb”) CL confirms that "there are no official plans to crossover." After their world tour last year, the girls are putting the focus back on home base, Korea. But the leader adds, "We really want to visit South America. I heard our fan base is the second biggest there... When I first met Will.iam., he told me that we were really popular in South America and we’ve been wanting to perform there for a while."

Though no matter where they make waves (officially or unofficially), 2NE1 continues to be a leader for the exponentially growing K-pop scene. Despite some time away from the scene, 2NE1's new album -- which promises a single each month until its October release -- and the excitement (and coverage) it brings will be a testament's to the girl group's global presence.

2NE1's Fashion Choices mentioned in British Tabloid 'Daily Mail'

Popular girlgroup 2NE1 appear to be making moves internationally with their fashion choices with their latest comeback. The 4 member group who recently made their long-awaited return with the single “Falling In Love” have been sporting a rather eclectic and black and white ‘evil eye’ pattern on all their clothes recently.

Their clothing which comes courtesy of designer Kesh’s collaboration with American Apparel is the rave not only amongst the group but with western A-Listers such as Cara Delevingne and Jessie J who even wears the exact same outfit as CL did for their comeback stage.
CL who was recently in the UK towards the end of last year was said to have met with Kesh and the designer had tweeted that there was going to be an interesting collaboration between the two.  The girls; CL, Minzy, Dara and Park Bom all received a nod from British tabloid giant, Daily Mail. Their online site listed the group as fans of Kesh’s capsule collection for American Apparel.

Perhaps when CL was last in London she received an exclusive glimpse of the collection and snapped up several pairs of the range for herself and her bandmates. Was this the collaboration that Kesh spoke of? Regardless, the girls look stunning in the clothing and their comeback has been a success as they have just won the highly coveted number 1 spot on today’s broadcast of Music Core!

Let us know what you think of the girls’ fashion choices! Do you like them or does the evil eye design not do anything for you?

2NE1 reveal their weight loss secrets!

Blackjacks were quick to notice that 2NE1 looked better than ever for their recent comeback and the group revealed their weight loss secrets.

During an interview, 2NE1 shared, "We prepared for our comeback with a rookie mindset and were determined to muster up all of our energy and do it together. We want to work hard in our promotions."

Park Bom shared, "People only look at my legs. I wish they would look at other areas. That is why I worked hard to go on a diet for my top half. I tried to tone up my hip area but my members don't have to work too hard to minimize their hips. That is why I decided to focus on my volume."

Dara shared, "We were filled with passion this time around. There are workouts that we could only do with our trainer but after we came back home from the gym, we did 10 more sets. In the end, my abs were not pretty 11-character abs but more like a washing board. That is when I realized that I have to work out with an expert."

Minzy also advised, "I don't know if it's because I am still young but I lost more baby fat. I decreased my intake of carbohydrates and focused on working out. There are times when I don't eat anything at all when I go on a diet but if you decrease your intake of carbohydrates, you can eat a little bit and still lose weight."

CL, who has been busy with her solo debut and 2NE1's comeback, revealed how she stays grounded through it all: "Starting a year or two ago, I began to take 30 minutes out of my day to meditate. After I meditate, I felt like I can spend my day more peacefully and meaningfully. It is a time to invest in myself. A little while after my debut, I realized that I need to take time for myself. Sometimes I meditate in my car for the times when I'm really busy."

2NE1 explains the '5-year jinx' among idol groups!

2NE1 remained firm that they're in this for the long run while also offering an explanation for the '5-year jinx' that surrounds this industry with idol groups often not being able to last more than 5 years.

On the July 17th broadcast of YTN's 'Ho Jun Suk's News In', when asked, "Have you heard of the '5-year jinx'? Many groups tend to break up after 5 years." Leader CL explained, "That is probably due to the contract term."

When asked, "Then how is 2NE1's contract term?", CL responded, "Although we can't reveal that, we still have time left. I think our team will continue for a long time."

On the topic of going solo, Dara shared, "If the opportunity presents itself, I want to do it. But since I'm promoting as a team right now, I am focused on 2NE1", and also expressed her interest in acting.

CL added her two cents as she said, "Park Bom unni and I have experience promoting as solo artists. Our members didn't originally prepare to be part of 2NE1 but prepared to be solo artists. But we ended up recording a song together and became a group that way so I think that all of us will have a chance to promote as solo artists one day."

YG’s YANG HYUN-SUK, “BOM+DARA equals Absolute Idiosyncrasy”

The founder of YG Entertainment, YANG HYUN-SUK, left a heart-warming comment for BOM and DARA, the two of four 2NE1 members. The group made a comeback after 2 years since their last song.

On July 15, YANG commented about the two members who are actively promoting the group on DOUBLE PARK TV, “BOM and DARA are extremely unique characters who are unpredictable. So the DOULBE PARK TV made by these two girls is an epitome of absolute idiosyncrasy.”

DOUBLE PARK TV is an ambitious promotional method by YANG, who successfully produced BIGBANG’s Audition and 2NE1 TV. The name of the program comes from BOM and DARA’s identical family names, PARK. The promotion team consists of the two most outgoing and witty members of 2NE1, which aims to communicate with the fans directly.

DARA, who has already been actively promoting the group to the fans, pulled in DARA and gave her a title ‘Promotion Agent’. This is how the duo promotion team was formed.

YANG has a special fondness and expectations for DOUBLE PARK TV. He said, “BOM and DARA’s DOUBLE PARK TV is still being filmed, and as the two girls are loving the promotion activities, they are going to be filming it until the end of the year, until 2NE1 wraps up new album.”

He added, “DOUBLE PARK TV is formed by two characters who are extremely unique and idiosyncratic. For them, running a customized and free program suits them better than TV variety show, and it will be more fun.”

2NE1’s fans also love the program. Fans are excited to see what kind of transformation the normally classy and charismatic BOM and DARA will show them through DOUBLE PARK TV.

In the sneak-peek preview of DOUBLE PARK TV, the two members were filmed receiving entrance and business cards from YG office, doing funny and clumsy gestures. No wonder fans are excited.

DOULBE PARK TV is available on 2NE1’s official YouTube channel, YG’s official blog, 2NE1’s official LINE account and Naver TV CAST. The first episode will be aired for the first time on the Internet soon.

2NE1’s ‘One Song a Month’ tactic surprises foreign press

Foreign media showed much astonishment to 2NE1’s strategy on releasing one new song every month from July to October.

America’s media MTV, Spin.com and Billboard.com spotlighted 2NE1 of their comeback with their new reggae-tinged song ‘FALLING IN LOVE’. It highlighted the fact that the group will be releasing a new song every month.

MTV mentioned on its online website on July 9 (local time), “Word on the street is that 2NE1 will be releasing a new single every month from July to October when the girls’ upcoming album drops. Translation? These next four months may in fact be the best of your life. (It all depends on how you define “best.”)”

Billboard, on July 8, also announced that 2NE1 will be releasing a single every month from July to October. It wrote, “2NE1 last made a splash on the K-Pop Hot 100 with their only 2012 single “I Love You” reigning No. 1 for two weeks last summer. Leader CL recently released her debut solo single “The Baddest Female” which peaked at No. 4 last month (June).”

Last year 2NE1 was not able to perform in Korea due to their World Tour schedule. But their comeback on July 8 with ‘FALLING IN LOVE’ and 4 upcoming songs are expected sweep across the music world from summer until autumn. 2NE1 aims to release at least 4 title songs this year.

Regarding 2NE1’s music activities in Korea, the CEO of YG Entertainment, YANG HYUN-SUK commented, “2NE1 always wanted to do more performance in Korea. This is why we are extending the song release period until the end of this year, instead of revealing all songs at once. In that case the fans can see 2NE1 more in Korea. There will be a concert following October.”

2NE1’s new song is at its wrap-up stage. Personnel from the agency said, “The song is almost ready, with recording and performance preparation all done.”

Yang Hyun Suk updates fans on Kang Seung Yoon and Taeyang's solo albums + 2NE1's next single & 'Double Park TV'!

YG Entertainment CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, took time out of his busy schedule to update fans on a few of his artists.

Those of you eagerly anticipating Kang Seung Hoon's debut single "Wild & Young" will have to wait a few more weeks. Due to the torrential rain, Yang Hyun Suk felt that "It Rains" would be a better release right now delaying "Wild & Young" for two weeks.

He is also delaying the boy group survival program 'Win' that was set to begin airing this week, until July 26th. Recall that Kang Seung Hoon will also be participating in 'Win' simultaneously with his solo activities.

"It Rains" will be released on July 16th ahead of the release of Kang Seung Hoon's debut mini-album. YGE is also in talks to have Kang Seung Hoon carry out a host of promotional activities for the 2 months following his debut.

Yang Hyun Suk further reports that Big Bang's Taeyang is not only co-writing, but also producing his upcoming second solo album. The album currently has a track list of 10 songs. He has been regularly traveling overseas for collaborations for this album as it's the first time he is producing.

Of 2NE1, Yang Hyun Suk confirms plans for the group to release the second of their four-track promotions in early August. This new song, "is a fast-paced and rhythmic song that is aimed for summer. The song is very 2NE1.

The music video will be directed by Seo Hyun Seung, who has directed other 2NE1 videos. The dance for the song will be choreographed by Kohara Sugarwara, a Japanese choreography who is also responsible for the "Falling In Love" choreography.

Lastly, Yang Hyun Suk explains 'Double Park TV'. Bom and Dara have been diligently filming 'Double Park TV', which will be revealed online soon. The show does not have any set format and is more like a "do whatever you want" online program. 'Double Park TV' will be similar to '2NE1 TV' by showing off Bom and Dara's unique characters. The show is said to include, "every tiny detail of what's happening at YG."
